EIT Climate-KIC, Netherlands (2018-2020)
Supported EIT Climate-KIC with Urban Transformation programme development and delivery – focussed on supporting local change-makers to nurture, structure and deliver transformative urban initiatives in service of a better quality-of-life for their community and a zero-carbon future. This assignment included grant management, training, advising, facilitation, project development, mentoring and building city-to-city connections.
Through this work we co-created the Future Cities of SE Europe project, within which the cities of Maribor (Slovenia), Skopje (North Macedonia), Križevci (Croatia), Niš (Serbia) and Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina) experimented with a collective mission to become some of the best possible places in Europe to live, work and visit by 2025 — and climate neutral by 2030. The Thriving Communities initiative (see above) is growing out of this work.
Another important spin-off from this work was that Climate-KIC went on to lead and shape the Net Zero Cities initiative, in support of the EU Mission for 100 Climate Neutral Cities by 2030.
