Tim Taylor supported EIT Climate-KIC with Urban Transformation programme development and delivery – focussed on supporting local change-makers to nurture, structure and deliver transformative urban initiatives in service of a better quality-of-life for their community and a zero-carbon future. This assignment followed a staff role, and included grant management, training, advising, facilitation, project development, mentoring and building city-to-city connections as a member of the core city-supporting team.
Through this work we co-created the Future Cities of SE Europe project, within which the cities of Maribor (Slovenia), Skopje (North Macedonia), Križevci (Croatia), Niš (Serbia) and Sarajevo (Bosnia & Herzegovina) experimented with a collective mission to become some of the best possible places in Europe to live, work and visit by 2025 — and climate neutral by 2030. The Thriving Communities initiative and many of our current partnerships grew out of this work.
Another important spin-off was that Climate-KIC went on to lead and shape the Net Zero Cities initiative, in support of the EU Mission for 100 Climate Neutral Cities by 2030. Tim was instrumental in the process of forming the team that went on to lead Net Zero Cities.
